See Karl Schranz’s 1969 Overall World Cup Trophy
The 1969 Overall World Cup trophy (the third ever awarded) was in the possession of Darrel Depot, which was given to him by his father. Darrel's father, Jerry Depot worked for the sports division of Volvo, which owned or distributed Kneissl skis. Jerry was friends with Karl and took care of his arrangements and promotional activities in this country.
Crystal Globes were presented at the awards ceremonies at the year-end Finals at Waterville Valley. (Left: Waterville Valley, Schranz and Gertrud Gabl posing with the trophies.)
According to Patrick Lang, son of Serge Lang and head press agent of the World Cup, there was another ceremony at Evian a few weeks later, and another presentation of trophies. Karl Schranz has an Overall World cup trophy in his possession, which we assume came from that ceremony at Evian, since the other Overall World Cup Trophy stayed in this country with Jerry Depot and now is on loan from Darrel Depot and exhibited here at the Museum.
